Hold’em Poker Rules

Holdem poker is the button

Holdem poker is the button game which means that the specific button to determine the dealer is used in this poker variation. The game session begins by betting. Traditionally the two gamblers close to the button place the forced blind bets, small and big. And the hole or pocket cards are dealt. Every player in the game gets two face-down cards. Then the first round of betting proceeds. According to the basic rules of poker it is opened by the first player after the big blind position and is completed after all the gamblers put the equal amount to the pot.

Flop

When the first betting round is completed three community cards are dealt face up. The players verify the hands and place bets. There is the second round of betting. As during the first round of betting the poker players can check, bet, raise, call and fold and use all-in option ( in no-limit poker games).

Turn

One more face up community card (turn) appear. Once more the round of betting follows that starts with the first active gambler next to the button. As usual at this point of the game the minimum betting amount is doubled.

River

The round of betting finishes and the last fifth community card appear. The last betting round proceeds. The river card gives the gamblers the last chance to improve the hands and in fact it may be the card that shows whether to stay in the game or leave.

Showdown

As soon as the final betting round is completed the active poker players turn over their cards. The five cards hands are evaluated according to the standard hand ranks. Keep in mind, that in accordance with the general rules of poker the players can use any of the pocket cards and any of the community cards to make five card hands.

Seven Card Stud Poker Rules

One of the most important features in Stud rules of poker is that this game is played with antes posted by all the players before the cards are dealt. Seven Stud is the poker game in which the poker players compete with each other. So, as soon as the antes are made all the poker players receive three cards each, two face down and one face up. The betting round follows. The gambler who has been dealt the lowest face up card opens following round. This player is to place bring-in bet that is equal to the lowest bet or the half of this betting amount. After bets are made one more card which is known as “fourth street” is dealt face up. The betting round occurs. Then two face-up cards which are known as fifth and sixth streets are dealt one by one followed by round of betting each. Then the gamblers are dealt the final seventh card, that is dealt face-down. The players use all their cards to form the five cards hands. The player with the best poker hand is awarded the pot. When there are the equal poker hands the pot is divided.

Omaha Poker Rules

Omaha is the second widespread poker game version after Texas Holdem. This is owing to the easiness of both rules of poker games. Omaha is often played in two forms: fixed limit or pot limit.

Omaha is also the button card game. The first two poker players next to the dealer make blinds and the dealer deals the card, four cards for each poker player. The game includes the same rounds as Texas Hold’em poker : the flop, turn and river, in which five community cards occur on the board. The poker hands in Omaha games are also formed of five cards, and the compulsory rule of Omaha dictates that the gambler is to use just two of the hole cards and three board cards in any combinations to form the five cards hand. In the showdown the poker players that are still in the game show their hands and the pot is received by the gambler who holds the highest hand.

Let It Ride Rules

Let it Ride poker game is not very popular as the previous ones, however, it can be played in some gambling rooms. Not like most poker games it is played against the dealer. Speaking about Let It Ride rules of poker playing the game is in fact the version of five card stud poker game. At the beginning the gamblers have the opportunity to make up to three different bets even the bonus bet (get to know the game rules determined by casino). The poker players are given three face up cards and the dealer’s community cards occur face down on the board. The first dealer’s card is exposed and now the poker players may decide if to quit the game or proceed, that means to Let it Ride. After the second community card is revealed the gamblers take the decision for the second time and then the poker hands are verified for the win. The prizes are paid off according to the special payoff table.

Pai Gow Rules

This is one more not very widespread poker game. According to the basic Pai Gow rules of poker playing this game variation is played against the house. Each poker player and the dealer get seven cards of that they are to form two poker hands. Five cards hand that is also known as “behind” and “big”, “bottom” is ranked according to the common ranking and two cards hands are evaluated according to the special Pai Gow hands rankings.
